Hemdem is a dating platform that matches people through personality tests — there are no right or wrong answers, results turn into a compatibility percentage with people who answered the same way you did. Here's the full flow, starting from before you even sign up.
1. Before you sign up
Without an account you can browse the Blog to see how the app works with screenshots, read this Help page, and check out the Sign Up/Login screens. The real experience — Discover, Tests, Messages — requires an account: this is deliberate, user content like posts/notes is no longer open to guests, and you're greeted with the Blog's showcase content instead.
2. Signing up and setting up your profile
You can sign up normally with email/password, or use the suggested 'quick sign-up' flow when you want to like a profile right away (for profiles that allow guests to send likes). After signing up, onboarding asks for your age, gender, interest, country and language — country and language are later used in Discover/Tests/Posts filters and on your profile. Every new user gets a welcome coin bonus.
3. Tests and the compatibility percentage
Tests aren't a knowledge quiz: they compare your answers with other people who took the same test and produce a compatibility percentage. You can create your own test for coins, define its questions/options, and it has to pass the 18+/profanity content filter — new tests go through admin approval. On a test's results list you can see how compatible you are with each person, and compare answers side by side.
4. Discover and the gate test
Discover is the main feed where you swipe through profiles one at a time — you can filter by age range, gender, country, language and distance (km). If a profile has a 'gate test', you need to take it and pass its similarity threshold before you can like them. You can spend coins to 'boost' your profile in Discover, and get a curated 'Match of the Day' suggestion every morning.
5. Matching and messaging
When you both like each other you match and a chat opens automatically; you can also spend coins to send a 'super message' before matching. Messages are auto-deleted after 10 days, you'll see a 'Seen' mark once the other person reads your message, and you can send photos in chat for coins. You can block or report anyone who bothers you — blocking is mutual and can be undone from Menu > Blocked Users.
6. Posts and notes
In the posts feed you can share text/photos, optionally tag a test, like and comment; notes (short, Instagram-'story'-like posts that disappear after 24 hours) appear as a separate strip above the feed. Both share the same filter — you can narrow it down by the COUNTRY you set at signup (there's no language filter here, that's only used in Discover and Tests).
7. Coins and Premium
Coins are spent on creating tests, sending super messages, unlocking who viewed your profile, sending photos in chat, and boosting. You can earn coins by watching ads or buying a coin package (currently a demo/mock payment flow — you're never actually charged). A Premium subscription gives you a gold badge next to your name, an ad-free Discover/Tests experience, and bonus coins every month.
8. Profile, verification and privacy
Your profile holds a photo gallery (up to 3), a bio and your social links; you can apply for verification with a photo taken live via your camera and earn a blue badge. Anonymous mode lets you use the platform without showing your name/photo (some features are limited); Privacy settings let you control your visibility in Discover, who can like/message you, and temporarily hide your flirt percentage.
9. Notifications and the leaderboard
You get notified about likes, matches, messages and new highly-compatible users; you can choose which notification types trigger a push notification on your phone from Profile > Notification Preferences. On the leaderboard, the top 3 point earners get an automatic coin reward every day, every 3 days and every week.
How do I match with someone?
Swipe right on profiles you like on the Discover page. If they like you back, you'll match automatically and a chat opens.
What is a gate test?
If a profile has selected a gate test, you need to take that test and meet its similarity threshold before you can like them.
What are coins for?
Coins let you create your own test, send a message without matching (super message), and unlock who viewed your profile. You can earn coins by watching ads.
Can I like someone without signing up?
Only profiles with 'allow guests to like me' enabled — you'll sign up quickly to send the like.
How do I delete my account?
Use the 'Delete My Account' button at the bottom of your profile page. This cannot be undone.
